200 years ago, the characteristic heathlands stretched far over large parts of northern Germany. The cultural landscape that was formed by overgrazing in the Neolithic age is today kept open for grazing for heathland sheep – a traditional, native breed of sheep. In the heathland nature parks, a unique world of flora and fauna has developed which can be preserved and seen at its best in August and September in particular. Wonderful cycling and hiking trails take you to and through Lüneburg Heath. Marine Ehrenmal in Laboe: Ein Mahnmal für den Frieden
Das Marine Ehrenmal in Laboe ist eine Gedenkstätte für die auf See Gebliebenen aller Nationen und hat damit internationalen Charakter. Weithin sichtbar ist sie durch den 85 Meter über der Ostsee aufragenden Turm. Zum Marine Ehrenmal in Laboe gehört auch ein echtes U-Boot, das außen und innen besichtigt werden kann.
Sehenswert und beeindruckend: Schloss Bruchsal im Kraichgau
Sehenswert und beeindruckend – das ist das Barockschloss Bruchsal im Kraichgau. Ab 1722 ließen es die Fürstbischöfe von Speyer als Domizil erbauen. Heute ist das Schloss die älteste erhaltene fürstbischöfliche Residenz am Oberrhein und vor allem für das imposante Treppenhaus berühmt, das Baumeister Balthasar Neumann ab 1728 errichtete.
